Parts of speech have great importance not only in English writing but also in English speaking. learning them will make the language easier to learn and understand.

 

What Is Part Of Speech?
A Traditional category of words includes (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, interjections, conjunction, and preposition) which are completely different due to the type of idea expressed and a specific function that is performed by them.

There are Eight Parts of Speech in English Grammar that are as followings.

• noun
• pronoun
• verb
• adjective
• verb
• adverb
• interjection
• preposition
•  conjunction

Here is a short example for your understanding….

Asim is Teaching English. 
This sentence is composed of various parts of speech.

Asim- Noun
Teaching- Verb
English- Noun

Similarly, every sentence in the English language is composed of different parts of speech.

1. Noun- اسم

it is used to describe a Place, thing, and person.
کسی جگہ ، چیز یا شخص کے نام کےلیے استعمال ہوتا ہے۔

Examples

Place                            جگہ	Karachi, Museum, Badshai Mosque, Office, Home
Animal                       جانور	Cat, Camel, Buffalo, Goat, Sheep
Things                         چیزیں	Fan, Chair, Mobile, Computer, Tablet
Fruits                             پھل	Apple, Banana, Apricot, Orange, Guava
Metals                            دھات	Iron, Steel, Copper, Brass, Aluminum
Quality                            صفت	Softness, Hardness, Honesty

2. Pronoun- اسم ضمیر
It is used in place of nouns.
یہ ناؤن کی جگہ پر استعمال ہوتا ہے۔

کو بار بار بولنا نہ پڑے۔ Noun  کی جگہ پر استعمال کیا جاتا ہےتاکہ Noun یہ وہ لفظ ہے جو کسی

I, we, You, He, She, They, It

 

Examples

Ali is a boy. علی لڑکا ہے۔	He is a boy. وہ ایک لڑکا ہے۔
Sana is beautiful. ثناء خوبصورت ہے۔	She is beautiful. وہ خوبصورت ہے۔
Asim is a teacher. عاصم ایک استاد ہے۔	He is a teacher. وہ ایک استاد ہے۔
Asima and Ali are traveling. عاصمہ اور علی سفر کر رہے ہیں۔	They are traveling. وہ دونوں سفر کر رہے ہیں۔
Saima is an intelligent girl. صائمہ ایک ذہین لڑکی ہے۔	She is an intelligent student. وہ ایک ذہین لڑکی ہے۔

 

3. Verb- فعل
is used to describe an action or state of being.
کسی کام یا حالت کو بتانے کےلیے استعمال ہوتا ہے۔

Action                                       کوئی کام	Run, Sleep, Eat, Help, Use
State of being                       کوئی حالت	Feel, Look, Smell, Taste, Were

 

Examples

He drinks water.	وہ پانی پیتا ہے۔
She takes tea.	وہ چائی پیتی ہے۔
Ali goes to school.	علی سکول جاتا ہے۔
She feels really good now.	وہ واقعی اب اچھی ہے۔
He looks very sad.	وہ غمگین دکھائی دیتا ہے۔

 

4. Adjective- اسم صفت

it is used to describe the quality of a Place, object, and person.
کسی جگہ، چیز اور شخص کی خوبی یا کمی بیان کرنے کےلیے یوز ہوتا ہے۔

 

Describing a person                    کسی شخص کا بتانا	Black, Beautiful, honest, Bad, Active
Describing A place                            جگہ کا بتانا	Big, Huge, Small, Homely, Nice,

 

Examples

Asim is beautiful.	عاصم پیارا ہے۔
We run fast.	ہم تیز دوڑتے ہیں۔
he is a dull man.	وہ ایک سست انسان ہے۔
I am a dirty boy.	میں ایک گندہ لڑکا ہوں۔
They are very active.	وہ بہت چست ہیں۔

 

5. Adverb- متعلق فعل

it is used to modify a Verb, adjective, or adverb.
فعل، صفت یا اپنی جیسے ایڈورب کو تبدیل کرنے کےلیے یوز ہوتا ہے۔۔

 

Adverb	Quickly, Loudly, Fast, Slowly, Happily,
Adverb Modifying Adjective ایڈورب ایڈجیکٹو کو تبدیل کرنے کی مثالیں	Asim was so exhausted. عاصم تھکا ہوا تھا۔The story was very interesting. کہانی بہت دلچسپ تھی۔The movie is really awesome. فلم واقعی زبردست ہے۔The food was so delicious. کھانا مزیدار تھا۔

 

Examples

He runs quickly.	وہ تیز بھاگتا ہے۔
She drives carefully.	وہ احتیاط سے گاڑی چلاتی ہے۔
He is very tall.	وہ بہت لمبا ہے۔
She speaks loudly.	وہ اونچا بولتی ہے۔
I happily gave him pen.	میں نے خوشی سے اسے قلم دیا۔

 

6. Interjection- حرف استعجائیہ
interjections are used to describe sudden emotions and are followed by an exclamation mark.
اچانک جذبات کا اظہار کرنے کےلیے یوز ہوتا ہے اور اس کے آخر میں حرف فجائیہ یوز ہو گا۔

Interjection Words

Bravo!	شاباش دینے کےلیے
Hurrah!	خوشی کا اظہار
Damn!	غصے یا پریشانی کا اظہار
Ooh!	حیرانی یا خوشی  کا اظہار کرنا
Oops!	غلطی کے اظہار کےلیے
Ouch!	درد کا اظہار کرنا

Examples

Hurrah! We have won the match.	حرا!  ہم نے میچ جیت لیا ہے۔
Alas! He did not die.	آلاس! ہوہ نہیں مرا۔
Bravo! You have passed the exam.	براوو! تم نے امتحان پاس کر لیا ہے۔
Ah! she is offline.	آہ! وہ آف لائین ہے۔
Ssh! Don’t make a noise.	ششی! شور مت کریں۔

 

7. Preposition- حرف جار
A word or group of words that are used before nouns, or pronouns.
ایک لفظ یا لفظوں کا گروپ جو کہ اسموں یا پروناؤن سے پہلے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔

Preposition Types

Preposition of place	in, on, at, behind, below, near, across, above, next to, in front of.
Preposition of Time	During, For, Till/ Until, Since, Ago, Before, By

 

Examples

He sat on a chair.	وہ کرسی پر بیٹھا۔
she lives across the road.	وہ سڑک کے ساتھ رہتا ہے۔
I teach during the meeting.	میں ملاقات کے دوران پڑھاتا ہوں۔
She went 5 minutes ago.	وہ 5 منٹس پہلے گئی۔
You live next to me.	تم میرے سامنے رہتے ہو۔

8. Conjunction- حرف عطف
A Word that is used to join Sentences and Clause.
وہ الفاظ جو فقرات اور کلازز کو ملانے کےلیے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔

Conjunction Words

Although, by the time, Whereas, But, Besides

Unlink, therefore, Unlink, So, and, Or, both

 

I want a dog or cat.	مجھے کتایا بلی چاہیئے۔
I want to help the poor but I have no money.	میں غریبوں کی مدد کرنا چاہتا ہوں لیکن میرے پاس نہیں ہے۔
I love Tanzila and Sania.	میں تنزیلہ اور ثانیہ سے پیار کرتا ہوں۔
I like both laptops and computers.	مجھے لیپ ٹاپ اور کمپیوٹر دونوں پسند ہیں۔
Although i am poor i am geneerous.	اگرچہ میں غریب ہوں میں سخی ہوں۔
